Solution Highlight: ISEC7 SPHERE v20.2.0
Editor's note, October 2026: This article was first published in June 2021 and describes ISEC7 SPHERE 20.2.0. The current release is 20.9.0. Since 2021, BlackBerry's Cylance business has moved to Arctic Wolf (2025), Microsoft Endpoint Manager is again called Microsoft Intune, and Azure AD is now Microsoft Entra ID. ISEC7 SPHERE still integrates Cylance, Zimperium, Microsoft 365 and ChirpStack, and has since added CVE monitoring and broader certificate monitoring. The current feature set is on the ISEC7 SPHERE page.
ISEC7 SPHERE keeps evolving around the needs of our customers, and version 20.2.0 brings new core features: support for Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) systems, which folds security into the management and monitoring of digital mobility; cost savings through asset tracking and lifecycle management of devices; and extended support for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Keep reading to learn what ISEC7 SPHERE 20.2.0 has to offer.
What is ISEC7 SPHERE?
ISEC7 SPHERE is a holistic digital workplace and mobile service management and monitoring solution that covers all aspects of daily operations in your mobile infrastructure and helps you identify and resolve issues quickly, from one web-based central console.
With centralized real-time control, ISEC7 SPHERE streamlines the administration of even the most complex infrastructure, regardless of the diversity of UEM systems, servers, networks and applications, with support for over 200,000 endpoints. With only one system to manage, issues are identified and resolved faster and need fewer IT staff, which has a significant impact on operational costs.
Earlier detection of points of failure also reduces the cost of downtime and increases productivity. Through the solution dashboard and the dynamic infrastructure network view, IT administrators and help desk staff get real-time updates about the mobile infrastructure. The system can monitor over 1,000 parameters and flags potential issues before they affect users. Customizable proactive alerts go to the assigned IT staff, who can resolve issues before they turn into outages.
New features in 20.2.0
Your security posture
As we move back to the office or into hybrid work, the last year has taught us that your security posture is paramount to keeping all your data safe and your ecosystem secure. The ISEC7 team has been working with Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) vendors and OEMs to integrate their data into ISEC7 SPHERE, providing a holistic view of managed security products. For background, see Demystifying Security: Mobile Threat Defense and Demystifying Security: EPP, EDR and MTD.
BlackBerry Cylance
- ISEC7 SPHERE now manages and monitors BlackBerry's machine-learning EDR, providing insight into the security posture of devices and users.
- ISEC7 SPHERE monitors and reports on policy changes and violations, with real-time alerting.
- ISEC7 SPHERE also monitors the status of the BlackBerry Cylance servers and the on-premises host, if applicable.
Zimperium
- ISEC7 SPHERE user and endpoint monitoring now includes Zimperium device risk.
Microsoft 365
Secure Score monitoring represents your organization's security posture. In addition to the overall score, ISEC7 SPHERE lists all detailed scores and their implementation status.
Lifecycle management
Most UEM solutions already give companies a view of their mobile users and devices. But many users have several devices at the same time (phone, tablet, desktop computer) and change them frequently, either for a new one or by reusing a shared phone, for example for testing or training. That makes it easy to lose track of who is using which device at any given time. Another key part of any mobile deployment is often overlooked and not properly monitored: the SIM card. Physical or virtual (eSIM), SIM cards are required for mobile devices to connect to and authenticate with a wireless provider and to exchange data and voice over 3G, 4G or 5G networks. More on embedded SIMs in Demystifying Technology: Embedded SIM (eSIM).
In this release, SIM cards are treated as assets, so you can track which SIM card, physical or virtual, has been used in which devices, by which users and when. This is another major step toward full lifecycle management with ISEC7 SPHERE.
- Track SIM cards, physical or virtual, like any other asset such as users and devices, so you know which users and devices they were used with over their whole lifetime
- Add custom attributes for devices and SIM cards, for example telecom contract data or identifiers from third-party solutions, manually or via bulk import
- SIM card information (ICCID) can now also be retrieved from Microsoft 365 devices
Extended Microsoft 365 monitoring
More and more customers are moving their infrastructure to the cloud, either partially in a hybrid setup or completely, to reduce TCO and downtime and to simplify access to corporate services and data. Many of those who choose Microsoft 365 also pick its UEM solution, Endpoint Manager (now called Microsoft Intune again), as their new management solution, for reasons such as integration, unified services and consoles, and pricing. We are therefore bringing as many features as possible to this platform, for migration from the main UEM vendors, for management and for monitoring. For monitoring and supervision, this release adds:
- Monitoring of all default Microsoft 365 web services such as the Graph API and the Service Communications API, administration portals such as the Azure portal and Endpoint Manager, and the Security Center, to ensure availability; custom endpoints can also be defined
- Monitoring of the Apple MDM push certificate, which is mandatory for managing Apple devices, so you never forget to renew it every year
- Service monitoring severity narrows the focus to critical notifications about actual service downtime for end users and keeps all others silent when that is convenient
Internet of Things (IoT)
The previous version already supported IoT devices such as the smart button, using LoRaWAN and connecting to the cloud over the global The Things Network (TTN); see Solution Highlight: ISEC7 SPHERE IoT for Smart Buttons. The integration now also supports the ChirpStack LoRaWAN Network Server stack and LoRa gateways for local on-premises deployments.
Version 20.2.0 builds on ISEC7 SPHERE 20.1.0 and further improves efficiency in your digital landscape while reducing cost of ownership and downtime. How the security features developed later is described in Improve Your Cybersecurity Posture with ISEC7 SPHERE and Certificate Monitoring with ISEC7 SPHERE.
